Some legal issues

We are blessed to live in a time, when technology provides us with the opportunity to publish, distribute and share our artwork freely, and without boundaries. A time when many people create with the intention to be primarily seen and heard, instead of sold and cashed. This is an attitude I admire, but after all, it is a matter of personal choice. For some of us, admiration is enough reason to create and share, while others prioritize profitability. In relation to that, governments across the world have created an abundance of copyright legal norms, with national or international jurisdiction. Some of these norms are related to attribution, others to sharing, distribution and derivative work. Undoubtedly, the most referred ones are those resolving money issues.

Anyway I'm one of those enthusiasts, who put publicity in first place and are ready to share their creative work free of charge. The basic driver for my decision is the idea that some things can not be taken – they can only be given. Unfortunately some people misunderstand this, which despite the good will may result in misuse or abuse.

The best possible solution to this dilemma is given by Creative Commons – an U.S. based nonprofit organization “dedicated to making it easier for people to share and build upon the work of others, consistent with the rules of copyright.” The company provides free licenses and other legal tools to mark creative work with the freedom the creator wants it to carry, so others can share, remix, use commercially, or any combination thereof.

Briefly, the license clearly states that the content published on MINDcOLLISION.net is available free of charge. Unless otherwise noted, visitors may copy, distribute and transmit any artwork published on MINDcOLLISION.net, under the following conditions:

Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).

Noncommercial — You may not use this work for commercial purposes.

No Derivative Works — You may not alter, transform, or build upon this work.

Additionally, I'd like to promise two things. First of all, if other artists are given the opportunity to publish any work here, they will be encouraged to do so in the same manner that I do - freely and under a Creative Commons license. Secondly, any exception will be clearly indicated in order to avoid misunderstanding.

The shortly explained conditions above are part of the so called Common Deed - an user friendly version of the Legal Code (the full license). The Common deed is available here. A reference to the license is also visible in the footer of every single page of this website.
